Absolutely love this Paul, I’ve read your last two entries so far and it’s brilliant. Definitely missing on our conversations at work, but this is a wonderful way of catching up. So glad you started this cool project!

Hi Paul, I'm Paul.

Just read your comment about the Dylanologists article in the Times. Well said… might as well start at Dylan's beginning- a very good place to start according to Julie Andrews.

I noted your screenwriter experience.

I searched you.

Let's write a screenplay.

I have several quite good ideas, but you can judge.

It's a good plot in itself- screen writer in NYC gets an usual invitation from a stranger on Substack to write a movie script. Intriqued, he reaches out (isn't that a trite expression?) and mayhem ensues, and a winning movie.

Trust your trepidation Paul!

Thanks, love your Holy Trinity (my original "Meet The Beatles" album is in the next room - $1 at Woolworths on Main St., New Rochelle - 1964)

Paul

Hi, Paul. For the past 30 years, after ONCE attempting it, I have a steadfast rule of never writing with anybody else, even my closest friends! Whenever someone mentions something like this to me, though - and it happens - I always, always encourage them to write it themselves. I don't know anything about your past as a writer. Maybe you've written a script on your own. But I genuinely believe that's the best way to do it. It's simply too personal a process for me to do it with another person. The thing is- I have several good ideas of my own! They're mine, and I'd like to get around to them some day! It's no small undertaking. You should feel the same way about your ideas. The only way to do it is to...sit down and do it! So again, I encourage you to try. That's all I did with my first script! I gave it shot. I really mean this. You'll soon determine what your strengths are (mine are dialogue and humor) and your weaknesses (conventional structure), and then you can focus on what you need to get better at. Thanks for the offer, though. I hope you get it done one day. Good luck, and all the best.

Thank you Paul.

That's the kind of empathic, encouraging reply I would expect from you just based on the impression I get from your Substack writing.

I'd probably reply to myself with similar words.

Your good qualities of openness, worldliness, artestry, intelligence, whimsy and humor - all palpable and appealing.

Odd to say but you mirror me and the familiarity is cool.

I, too, have a facility for humor- lifelong happy habit!

I like to write - I've done extensive, detailed plot summaries of my screen ideas - but the dialog is a bear.

I'll follow the stream on this platform. Looking forward to it.

Paul

(oh, I have the same impression of "Apocalypse Now" - the sum of many vignettes but a great one.

Saw the first show of its premiere at The Ziegfeld Theater with its huge screen and sound in 1979. Knocked me out).

Hi! 😊 Don't know if you might be interested but I love to write about sustainability (fashion, travel and our relationship with clothes). I'm a thrift shopping and vintage clothing lover who likes to explore the impact textile industry and consumistic culture have on the environment and also what people can do to shift the tendency.
