Neil Young gets a pass most of the time because he's got the stoned hippie thing going on. But he can do it sometimes, too, especially over the past twenty or so years.

I LOVE Rocket Man. It has some wonderfully evocative lyrics along with the regular-guy-tossed-off stuff. You’re wrong, Tatara!

As for Levon, for years I wondered if the NYT did have a God Is Dead headline on Christmas Day. Time did its Is God Dead? on Easter, after all.

The proof doesn't come until the very last line of that verse, but the things that might be "green" or "blue" are the eyes. The eyes. It's all backwards. But I always knew the forgetting had to do with the color of the EYES. Check it out. Very confusing, as you have noticed.

Then it’s DEFINITELY a bad lyric because I’ve easily heard the song over a hundred times over the years and never figured that out! Let’s just say that clarity is not one of his strengths.
