Would there have been a full scale Beatles reunion? I doubt it. Why would they want that madness again? Possible studio stuff? I'd like to think maybe. We're all thinking about a 40 year old John as that's all we have. Who's to say a 50 year old John wouldn't have felt the urge to guest together with his old friends or something like that? I know at 56 my thinking is not the same as it was at 40
Maybe...I suppose. He just had such a never-ending chip on his shoulder, I can't imagine it. And I think Yoko was always trying to keep him away from it. It almost certainly would have been a letdown, because how could it not be?! In a certain way, I can't blame him for never wanting to do it while he was still around.
I watched a documentary about Nilsson a year or two ago and it detailed a bit of the drunken idiocy that he and John created together. It was a miracle that either one survived that period.
Goddamn, Paul Tatara, I love your writing.

I'm semi obsessed with this story. There's a good May Pang doc called "The Lost Weekend" out that sheds some light on it as well

I was one of those devastated fans. The Beatles were the center of my musical world.
Great article!
